NZ Location Managers and Location Co-ordinators’ Course Information

Location Managers & Co-ordinators’ Course, supported by the New Zealand Film Commission and with thanks to Screen Wellington and Screen Canterbury, are two exclusive Screen Industry specialised training courses (run in parallel) with a focus on excellence, designed for committed, hard-working individuals who want to take their career to the next stage to learn Television and Film Location Co-ordinator and Management procedures and how to manage locations effectively and efficiently.

We are looking for 16 participants for the Location Manager course and 10 for the Location Co-ordinator Course from across the country, which will include a practical day in preparing a location for a shoot in your region.

The Location Manager’s course will include:

  • Scouting

  • Budgeting

  • Negotiating

  • Permitting & consultation

  • Tech recces

  • Working with other departments

  • Health & Safety

  • Final prep

  • The Shoot

  • Wrap

The Location Co-ordinators’ course will include:

  • Overview

  • Script breakdown

  • Budgeting

  • Tracking

  • Working with the Locations Team

  • Tech recces

  • TMP’s/Permits / Contracts
